The Janelia Archives
Artifact Name: Guesthouse Key Card Community
In the first decade of Janelia’s existence, nearly 17,000 scientists and other professionals, hailing from 48 different countries, passed through the main building’s sliding glass doors. Some attended a conference for just a few days. Others stayed for months to work collaboratively with Janelia scientists. The campus’s 96-room guesthouse accommodates most visiting scientists.
By hosting scientific events and providing lodging for traveling scientists, Janelia aims to spur collaboration and share knowledge, worldwide.
Throughout the year, visitors travel to our campus and stay in our guesthouse to attend conferences, learn at workshops, and conduct research alongside our resident scientists.
Our colorful key cards grant visitors entrance to Janelia’s guesthouse, whether they’ve come to attend conferences, learn at workshops, or conduct research alongside our resident scientists.
