Biography

Rui Yan received her BE in Mechanical Engineering and PhD in Structural and Computational Biology and Biophysics from the Purdue University. During her time at Purdue, she did her research with Dr. Wen Jiang to study the technology development and applications of cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) imaging and 3D reconstruction. Her graduate projects focused on the development of image processing algorithms, scientific software packages, data collection automation methods for cryo-EM and cryo-ET. She joined the cryo-EM facility at Janelia as a staff scientist after obtaining her PhD degree. Rui has a great interest in the development of new approaches in image processing and data collection.
