Biography
As a mechanical engineer in the ID&F group, Jon designs new systems and tools for scientists at Janelia to aid and advance their research. Jon has a diverse background in mechanical design and engineering, with experience developing products which include confocal microscopes, lab automation equipment, ATM cash dispensers, medical diagnostic instrumentation, and factory equipment for the rail industry. Most recently before coming to Janelia, Jon worked at Becton Dickinson, where he helped develop and manufacture instruments that automate diagnostic testing of samples for cervical cancer. His strengths lie in part, mechanism, and systems design and motion control. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family, cycling, volunteering at local parks, and working on design projects of his own.
