Biography

Zhe (James) Liu is a Group Leader at the Janelia Research Campus. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University, China, and earned an MS degree in structural biology and biophysics from Tsinghua University's School of Medicine. Later, he completed his PhD in molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he focused on studying transcriptional regulation of stem cell pluripotency under the guidance of his advisor Robert Tjian.

     Following his doctoral studies, Liu worked as an independent fellow at the Janelia Research Campus from 2012 to 2015, where he collaborated with the Transcription Imaging Consortium. In 2015, he established his own laboratory.
